Return to Blog Kate Edwards joins Calibrate

This month we’re excited to welcome our latest addition to the Calibrate team: Kate Edwards. Kate has recently moved up to Auckland from Nelson and brings with her a wealth of great design experience. We asked Kate a few questions to get to know her better.

Kate, tell us a bit about what you’ve been up to before joining Calibrate

After finishing my last year at college, I spent 4 years in Wellington studying Visual Communication Design. To be surrounded by that many creative people was such an amazing, eye-opening experience and I learnt a huge amount about myself and where I wanted to go in life. I was always drawn to the strategic side of marketing so when I graduated I found myself looking for combined marketing and design roles. After a few years working as part of in-house teams, I discovered digital marketing was the area that I was really passionate about – which is what has now brought me to Calibrate!

As a designer, what (or who) inspires you?

I find inspiration in a lot of things; from other designers work to architecture, art, an image on Instagram or a really impressive sunset. The important part, and something I’m working on, is collecting these pieces of inspiration to draw on when you need them.

What are you most excited to achieve at Calibrate?

I’m most excited to learn as much as I can about the digital marketing world and being able to use my design skills to add extra value to Calibrate’s offering. And becoming part of an incredible team along the way!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Escaping into a good book or movie, painting, drawing, brunching, getting outside – away from screens and spending time with my exceptional friends and family.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

The odd reality TV show, anything salted caramel flavour and overusing emojis in my messages 🙂
